Northern Territory Sportsfishing - Cape Don Fishing Lodge - Northern Territory Barramundi Fishing and Saltwater Flyfishing On The Cobourg Peninsula

What's News At Cape Don?

May 2007

Diversity! Diversity!

“I was delighted with the variety and size of the heaps of fish I caught, with many being ones which I had only read about, let alone caught one! Hope to return next year” Bruce Doherty March 2007

Early season highlights.

The season is well and truly under way in the rich tropical waters of the Cobourg Peninsula north of Darwin. Bruce Doherty was one of our early clients and as you can see by his comments above he had a blast! We have already had in excess of 60 guests stay at the lodge since we opened in late March and they have landed plenty of “Barra”, Mangrove Jack, Giant Trevally, Queenfish, Jewfish, Coral Trout, Snapper and Tuna just to name a few.

Some of the best lure and fly fishing available

Cape Don is on the tip of the Cobourg Peninsula, part of Arnhemland which is private Aboriginal owned land surrounded by marine park. The isolated and pristine area and the surrounding rich tropical waters deliver excellent fishing for a diverse range of species. Up to 28 species have been caught in a 4 day period. Not only does the area offer some of the best lure fishing found in Australia but Salt water fly fishing enthusiasts today make up about 30% of our guest numbers.

Around Cape Don we have a number of different environments to fish. The lodge sits on the tip of the peninsula so we can fish both the north and south sides depending on the conditions. Mangrove estuaries, rivers and creeks, sandy beach flats and coral atolls or inshore and offshore reefs we have the diversity!

Single Share?

We now keep a register of single clients who would be happy to share a boat and room with another like minded single client to take advantage of the twin share rate as opposed to the single rate at Cape Don. Just advise us of your preferred dates and we will see if we can match up another single client to save you money.
